In this edition, I will cover the first 6 of the 12 Elite Prep Soccer ID Campers from our 2024 camp. The players featured have a few players making their college commitments, 2 won a High School Section Championship, 2 won an ECNL National Championship, 1 player is on the El Salvador U-17 National team, 1 is on the Panama U-17 National team, and a few of them are USYNT team call-ups.

Previously serving as the ID Camp Director and later a Prep Soccer scout, I've had the privilege of evaluating each player once and a few maybe 4 or more times at the high school and ECNL level. Some are also ranked in the Top 41 (#7, #39, #41) in the nation, while others are ranked as high as the top 2 in CA.

Travers and Leifreid participated in the 2025 ECNL Girls Conference Cup at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California from August 4 to 8. The selection program chose the top 12 rising U16-U18/19 female players from across the country. They placed them into 8 different teams from different ECNL conferences with geographical links. Cassie and Savannah were on a stacked team consisting of top-level players from NorCal, Utah, Washington, and Oregon. The top 4 teams advanced into the semifinals, and Travers and Leifried became champions.

When asked how players were selected for this event, ECNL stated, “Players were selected for the Conference Cup by ECNL player identification staff through a combination of scouting and recommendations based on performances over the past several months, including performances in National Selection Games throughout the 2024-25 ECNL National Events schedule.”

1. Cassandra “Cassie” Travers, a defender and one of the highest-ranked national players from the NorCal 2028 list. Her passion for the sport is undeniable, purely dedication, inspiring, and most admirable. Many players take breaks to refocus and balance aspects of life to reduce burnout. Cassie is built differently, and her constant resilience in overcoming obstacles and facing new challenges is what will ultimately get her to where she wants to be. Her recent invites to the Bay FC and Gotham Talent ID centers are just some of the many experiences she has to boot, as well as getting a call for the USYNT U-15 camp in Carson, CA. Most recently she was part of the ECNL's Conference Cup (Team Northwest), which won the tournament. Can't wait to see what opportunities will be presented, as I believe it is just a matter of time before she makes it to the top.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='99198' first='Savannah' last='Leifried'] - She just recently got back from winning a tournament championship with Team Northwest. She is also a top-tier midfielder/defender and nationally ranked player in the 2027 class. Savannah is a player who can lock in and rise to the level of competition. I've evaluated her at multiple times when she played up in ECNL competitions as well as at the semi-pro level with the [program_tooltip program_id='283734' first='San' last='Francisco Glens']. She never disappoints, and her competitiveness is what impresses me the most. Her ability to play a defensive wingback position solidifies the backline, and her attacks from the flanks can cause havoc on defenses. She is also a USYNT U-17 call-up. She also participated in the Bay FC and Gotham Talent ID centers. She is definitely on the uncommitted list, but I'm sure many top-level colleges are making a push to sign her

3. [player_tooltip player_id='146256' first='Molly' last='McBride'] - One of the best goalkeepers from the 2027 class. With multiple USYNT call-ups, it's just a matter of time before she climbs the ranks as a top 10 player. She is another player who is always willing to take on challenges and recently completed her 9th U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center in NorCal. I've evaluated her on at least 4 occasions. Each time it seems as if she's getting stronger, more athletic, and calm and in control. She plays with such intensity that it feeds off on her defensive line, which makes strong buildups from the back. This style of play created opportunities for success as the ECNL team made it to the final round of 16 and lost a heartbreaker. Definitely better days are coming as Molly recently committed to the University of Florida. Can't wait to see what's next in her soccer journey.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='202683' first='Jayla' last='Swindle'] - Is one of the top-ranked midfielders in the California 2028 rankings. She is a highly decorated player who won the Sierra Delta League Offensive MVP as a freshman. Her 46 goals and 14 assists for Vacaville Christian are something to note. While covering the Gatorade National Player of the Year, Addison Halpern, her total goals in 4 years stand at 160. Thus, just saying, if Jayla continues to score an average of 45 goals, it could total 180. I've also covered at least 5 of Jayla's matches, and she definitely stands out. My favorite part of her game is her ability to stay calm under pressure. Her crisp passes and slicing past defenders are very impressive. She just completed a second COPA talent ID day. Looking forward to evaluating her in high school competition, as she will be gunning for another MVP title and possibly a section title. Also, wanted to note that her ECNL had a great national playoff run, as they lost a heartbreaker in the semi-final in a PK shootout.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='111090' first='Teagan' last='Kaefer'] is a top-ranked defender/midfielder in the California 2027 class. She played on a very good Los Gatos high school team, which went undefeated in league play at 9-0-3 for first place. The sophomore starter was a key part of their success as they ranked #70 in CA. I've evaluated her on at least 5 occasions. Each time she put on a solid performance, and I believe her teams won each time. When playing the center back position, it is nearly impossible to get clear runs at goal. I like that she can push up and add some firepower up front when needed. She has a very high soccer IQ, and it is evident in how she possesses exceptional tactical awareness. Teagan and her [program_tooltip program_id='278033' first='MVLA' last='ECNL'] G09 team won a national championship, and this team will definitely be favored to repeat next year.

6. [player_tooltip player_id='111109' first='Nina' last='Khoury'] is a top-level midfielder/defender in the class of 2027 in California. She was a starter and a big part of the Cardinal Newman championship run for the North Coast Division 2 championship. I picked the Cardinals as an underdog with the talent and chemistry to win it all. They delivered at every match as they took down the top 4 ranked teams in the tournament. It was great to evaluate her during her team's match at the national playoffs. Seeing her on a new club team (Davis Legacy) and playing the midfield position was what really impressed me. Previously, I've only seen her as a defender. She seemed to be a natural midfielder as she played box-to-box and created opportunities on offense and made clean tackles on defense. Looking forward to her next ECNL and high school season, as both teams are poised to compete at a high level.
