Dynamo U15 and San Antonio FC B11 even in preseason match

The club soccer season officially kicked off last week, but preseason matches continue to pop up around Texas every weekend. These matches are great opportunities to watch teams in the early days of the new season and also offer an interesting perspective as clubs from different leagues go against each other.   On Saturday, August 30, Prep Soccer Texas was in attendance when MLS Next side [program_tooltip program_id='283657' first='Houston' last='Dynamo'] U15 hosted ECNL opponents [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC'] B11 at the Houston Sports Park. The match was cut short at the 30th minute of the second half due to weather conditions when the teams were tied 1-1.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2025/09/tx-preseason-houston-dynamo-u15-vs-san-antonio-fc-b11-photos/">Photos: [program_tooltip program_id='283657' first='Houston' last='Dynamo'] U15 vs. [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC'] B11</a></li> </ul>   The Dynamo scored their goal in the first half. At the eighth minute, midfielder Christopher Gonzalez when the ball in the attacking half, dribbled a defender and sent it into the back of the net with a left-footed shot.   San Antonio had a stronger offensive presence in the second half and had a good opportunity to equalize in the 23rd minute, when they got a free kick just outside the Dynamo's penalty box, but defender Jose Luis Carbonell's shot hit the crossbar and went out. Five minutes later, the visiting team connected a quick transition play that ended with midfielder Zeke Peterson scoring.   The Dynamo will be at home for the start of the MLS Next campaign, hosting [program_tooltip program_id='283612' first='Austin' last='FC'] on Saturday. [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC'] will play back-to-back road matches in their first weekend of ECNL action, making the trip to Dallas to face Solar Academy on Saturday and Solar SC on Sunday.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Players of the Match</h2>    The midfielder was very active for the Dynamo, being by far their most intense player on the field. Gonzalez got on the ball very often and did a great job of helping his team create chances with his excellent vision and passing ability, never wasting possession. He also displayed excellent ball control and creativity to dribble the ball forward, and was very difficult to stop when he got going. Gonzalez did good work off the ball, too, and managed to score the team's goal in a play that combined some of his best skills, as he pressed an opponent to win the ball in the attacking half, dribbled past a defender and scored with a well-placed shot.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/09/2J4A0180.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-319025" /></figure>    Playing in the center of the Dynamo's back three, Moddelmog had a very solid performance for them on the backline. His positioning was impeccable, and that allowed him to consistently step up and interrupt [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC']'s attacking plays without having to get into physical duels. Moddelmog also did a great job of following up on his defensive actions with intelligent plays on the ball, displaying great calm and allowing his team to keep possession. He did a great job of constantly moving off the ball and making himself available for his teammates in the final third. Munson used his body well to shield the ball and work with his back to the goal, but also kept the opposing backline under pressure with his runs off the ball, at times trying to get in behind and on other occasions drifting wide to open up space in the middle. The forward also demonstrated great dedication and intelligence in pressing opposing defenders when they had the ball, forcing them to play long passes and turn the ball over.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/09/2J4A0187.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-319029" /></figure>    Playing as a left back, Carbonell was very consistent during the match and had a solid two-way performance for [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC']. He did a good job of defending his zone, playing intelligently to stop opponents who went against him in possession, while also protecting the space behind his back, intercepting passes and through balls. A solid passer, Carbonell also supported the team's buildup, dropping back and helping the center backs move the ball. He displayed good quality in set pieces too, and almost scored a goal, seeing his free-kick shot hit the crossbar.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/09/2J4A0175.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-319021" /></figure>    Rush played the entire first half and part of the second and kept [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC'] in the game with his excellent work between the posts. His team had to sustain strong pressure from the Dynamo in the first half, when the home team vastly dominated possession, and he responded well every time he was called to action. Rush demonstrated great reflexes and superior technique in goal, making difficult saves that prevented the home team from taking a bigger lead into the halftime break. He also did well when dealing with crosses, and when he had to step up and get to passes behind the backline.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/09/2J4A0176.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-319022" /></figure>    Garcia came off the bench and strengthened [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC']'s playmaking in midfield. A lefty, he did a good job with his passing, always picking the best options and getting the ball to his teammates with good accuracy. He also showed solid dribbling skills, often creating space with body moves. Garcia competed well for the ball and helped his team play defense, too.
