Five Defenders to Know from the Updated Texas 2028 Boys Rankings

<p>After some months, the Prep Soccer 2028 Texas Boys State Ranking was updated earlier this week, with new players being added to the prestigious list that features only the best of the best in the Lone Star State and the existing ones having their positions adjusted.</p>   <p>The ranking will continue to be consistently updated so it accurately reflects the progress achieved by players over time and presents a clear picture of the Texas landscape, always having in mind each prospect's potential to make an impact at the next level.</p>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/texas/rankings/boys/2028-rankings/">Texas 2028 Boys State Rankings</a></strong></li> </ul>   <p>The updated Texas 2028 Boys State Rankings now feature 98 players from every corner of the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to present you with some of the most intriguing names that made the list.</p>   <p>These are the defenders you should know:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Vejrostek is part of the [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] Academy, playing for their U19 team in the MLS Next League. He's the top-ranked prospect in our updated Class of 2028 Texas State Rankings. A left-footed defender, he's versatile and physical enough to play either in central defense or as an outside back. Vejrostek's defensive game stands out for his ability to read plays and anticipate moves, but he also holds his own in physical duels. He has superior quality on the ball and is capable of breaking lines with his passing and getting his team out of difficult situations in possession. He appears in third place among the defenders and sixth overall in Texas following the update. Glynn combines physical and technical skills at the right rate and anchors their backline with his solid and efficient game. Defensively, he stands out for his positioning, always being in the right spot to make plays and doing a good job of keeping forwards under pressure inside and around the penalty box. The center back appears as the eighth-best defender and in 20th place overall in the age group. A High School state champion with Episcopal, Florez-Martinez is extremely solid defensively, thriving in 1v1 duels and doing a great job of defending the penalty box both in the air and on the ground. He is now listed at 15th place among the defenders and 39th overall in the state in the Rankings. Few outside backs in this age group make as much as Lares on both sides of the ball. He's a relentless defender who plays hard and puts a lot of effort into his work off the ball, making things difficult for wingers and midfielders who step into his zone. He's now ranked 22nd among the defenders and appears in 64th place overall in Texas. A high school football player, he has solid physical tools and uses them very well to stand out defensively at the center back position. Rivera defends very well both inside the box and in space, using his body to knock opponents out of the ball and timing his sliding tackles extremely well.
