Socal U18 USLW Players to Watch

The USLW just kicked off its 4th season this past week and we are going to highlight some youth players who are on rosters around the league. In this article we will be talking about the Western Conference Socal Division where there is some excellent youth players looking to make an impact in this predominantly college player league. This is an excellent opportunity for these young ballers to get some top competition away from their age group. I always see players who have participated in these leagues show a huge leap in their development when they return to play in their own age group. We have 6 teams in this division the Socal Reds, AMSG FC, Santa Clarita Blue Heat, Southern California Dutch Lions, Capo FC, and LASC.    The Utah commit is playing for the Socal Reds this season. An extremely athletic and versatile Slammers HBK product who has an excellent burst of speed and fearless in defense. She will have no problem adjusting to the speed of play at this level.     Under the radar prospect who definitely shows up on film. She's has an excellent athletic profile. Tall, fast, and can change directions quickly. She is a great reader of play and connects passes at a high clip. I can see her stock rising quickly if she performs at this level consistently.     Maroney has a division 1 athletic profile. She is a fluid mover and has a high competitive motor. Her aerial dominance is very easy to notice on film she not only has a height advantage over most players but she has excellent timing on her jumps. She will be able to not only match the physicality of this league but actually deliver some punishment to opposition.     The only U18 player on this AMSG FC roster. She will have no problem adjusting to this level as she is an excellent ball winner and plays with amazing tenacity. Very solid in possession and the half turn as well Giti is definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.     Bott brings excellent pedigree to the Santa Clarita Blue Heat. Plays for a top club in Slammers HBK, a top high school in Santa Margarita and has been in and out of the USYNT picture for years. Her technical and tactical prowess are her biggest strengths. She can dictate a game from midfield and even at this older more physical level Bott has all the talent to thrive.     Hard to consider Corona a youth player still as she has been playing with the big girls for some time now. From what I hear she is already on campus at UCLA training with the first team. She has professional training experience with a handful of professional clubs. I see Corona as someone who can dominate at the USLW level and I highly encourage watching.     The [program_tooltip program_id='283395' first='Legends' last='FC'] product finds herself on the Santa Clarita Blue Heat roster. Technically she is excellent which is no surprise considering she is a 4x Futsal National Champion. This USLW experience will be super valuable for her to get used to the physicality and speed of the next level. Tactically she is well beyond her years finding pockets of space that very few players can find.     The only 2030 that I have seen on a roster thus far. Thompson will be a very fun watch for Santa Clarita this season. She will be one of, if not the smallest player on the field any time she steps on the pitch but don't get that confused with not being able to make an impact. Thompson has all the skills to be a big problem for opposition defenders in this league.     Committed to Oregon and also on the Samoan Women's National Team Leonard brings elite athleticism and dribbling ability to Santa Clarita this season. She glides with the ball when it's at her feet and has the ability to pick out a pass while she's dribbling at high speeds that you don't see very often at her age. I can definitely see a rise for Leonard if she performs in the USLW this season.     Headed to the SEC and the Tennessee Volunteers in 2027 Jackson brings elite athleticism to the right flank for the Santa Clarita Blue Heat this season. She is up and down all game. Relentless in pursuit of the ball and gets a ton of interceptions creating counter attacks for her team. Another player that I expect will thrive at this level.     The San Diego Surf left winger has a devastating burst of speed. She cuts inside onto her right foot masterfully and is a very consistent finisher. It will be interesting to see how she does with bigger and faster opposition playing for the Southern California Dutch Lions this season.     Headed to TCU in the fall Hilderman will be looking to add one last experience to her already impressive soccer resume before arriving on campus. Her ability to find gaps in the defense and play balls in behind to her strikers was the biggest thing that stood out on film to me.     Very calm presence in midfield with an excellent soccer IQ. She does a great job at drawing defenders in to create space behind them before releasing a pass. Defensively she reads play at an extremely high level. The Cal State Fullerton commit definitely seems like she plays a different game out there then most. I think she can make an impact in the USLW this year and her stock will rise because of it.     One of the youngest players on this list Nimmagadda's reputation is growing fast. She is long, crafty, two-footed and incredibly talented. A body feint queen able to create an extra yard of space with ease. Will be fascinating to see how she matches up against USLW competition. My gut tells me she will be just fine.
