It was a beautiful day in the Bay Area, CA. The Oakland Roots & Soul Training Center was the venue. Sunday's event featured some of the best soccer players in the state, with some of them playing at the youth national level. The partnership of COPA and Racing Louisville FC, the groundbreaking initiative that leverages objective player data paired with live high-level talent, was about to be tested. Many top-performing players had some of the best COPA scores, while others proved their mettle on the pitch.

Of course, one might ask, how does one get invited to this historic event? The groundbreaking free initiative offered 1000 free assessment slots at COPA STC. Female players aged 15-22 with aspirations to play professional soccer were the key focus. Each player attending the event earned their spot at the Pro Pathway Event with @racinglouisvillefc through the #COPAScore - an objective, data-driven assessment. Their skills and potential were objectively measured and profiled versus professional standards. Then, the best 30 were invited to compete on the field in front of scouts.

What sets this event apart from other ID camps is the accessibility concept. Unlike other camps, which require a cost or fee, COPA's commitment to free assessments is simply unheard of. As a Prep Soccer ID Camp Director, I can vouch that this camp was set up with the highest standards from its inception. The way it offered players opportunities to get here, the preparation from the marketing standpoint, the facilities, and the front-line support staff made it a top-notch event. Also, the fact that professional scouts were on hand made it even more appealing to both players and parents.

The run of the show started with players arriving at around 9:00 am. Then they got checked in and received numbered jerseys in gold and black. Warm-ups commenced after check-in with players starting off in small groups. The trainer got players into 2 groups for a possession drill to get players ready for the kickoff at 10:00. Barry McCabe brought the players to huddle and introduced Charlie Tuley, the man of the hour. Charlie is the performance analyst for Racing Louisville FC, and he was tasked with choosing the standout player to be invited to trial with Racing Louisville.

The first game was highlighted by a combination of a long ball pass by [player_tooltip player_id='199883' first='Mercy' last='Karson'] (Prep Soccer - 2028 - Defender) #10 ranked in the Nation, #12 in CA and #5 in position to [player_tooltip player_id='146239' first='Rhea' last='Moore'] (Prep Soccer - 2027 - Forward) #52 ranked in the Nation, #14 in CA and #2 in Position - Karson sent it from her 18 to the attacking third, to set up the play as two defenders battled for possession before Moore got a win-back and finished it with her left.

Moore also scored a second goal in game #1. The match also featured midfielders [player_tooltip player_id='202683' first='Jayla' last='Swindle'] (Gold) and [player_tooltip player_id='202653' first='Everleigh' last='Porter'] (Black) showing precise passes and tracking back for possessions and overall solid plays as center-mids. Swindle was the Sierra Delta League Offensive MVP and she is on the ODP West Region team as well as the ODP National Team. Jayla was also a standout at our Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp: NorCal 2024. Porter had one of the top COPA scores for 2010 players. Her technical proficiency and stress tolerance skills are what elite colleges look for in players. She is also on the U16 U.S. National Futsal team. Swindle and Porter play on the same [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] G10 team, and I was just at their match the day before as they played against Mustang SC, which featured Karson and her teammate Slyvia Fok. Karson was the player of the match on the Mustang side as she commanded the back line as she was the vocal leader while leading by example.

Match #2 offered another action-packed play in the midfield. Players made great connections and moved the ball effortlessly up and down the pitch. They seemed to get a bit more comfortable working with the new players. The quality of the play increased as both sides made more pushes and attacks on goal. Other standouts were goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id='19134' first='Aubrey' last='McLin'], she made some key stops to earn a clean sheet and she showed her range by making a high flying save which deflected towards the goal post and she punched it out in the last second. Aubrey was another standout at our Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp: NorCal 2024.

Also, [player_tooltip player_id='146238' first='Kendall' last='Conway'] ([program_tooltip program_id='283393' first='Lamorinda' last='SC']) a midfielder and US National U15 player in 2024 showed strong possession skills, found open players, and made some clean tackles. Conway ranks in the 90th percentile for the technical ability against college players. Her ability to control the tempo, break lines with passing, and handle high-pressure moments are her strongpoints. Jadyn Rosenberger of [program_tooltip program_id='283393' first='Lamorinda' last='SC'] - G08 made defensive stops, accurate passes, and had clean tackles. Jadyn's 99th percentile Cube Accuracy showcases her elite precision and decision making. She is a threat in the midfield and can play as a two-way threat.

Match #3 brought the most intensity as the players knew that time was about to expire. Every player hoped to be the chosen one, but the verdict was about to be passed down. After 3 intense, highly competitive, and evenly matched squads, [player_tooltip player_id='199883' first='Mercy' last='Karson'] was chosen for the trial invite with Racing Louisville. Mercy is very deserving of this opportunity, as she has demonstrated her ability to play at a very high level. She is the youngest player of the group but definitely one of the most skilled and fittest and has one of the highest soccer IQs in the group.
