The West Virginia commit was determined to get a goal. Her run up the sideline and into the 18-yard box eventually paid off as she got the 5th goal for SF. It was a nice goal as she checked back to receive the ball while spinning off the defender to strike the ball in stride. I really liked her progression, as I’ve previously seen her play at the ECNL level. She is definitely showing some strength and technique against top-level competition.

She made some big-time plays on the defensive side. Grier was relentless, while making strong, calculative, and clean tackles. Her ability in “closing down” attackers by accelerating down the channels or when timing angled runs were the areas in which she stood out the most. I really liked her progression, as I’ve previously seen her play at the ECNL level. She is definitely an up-and-comer to look out for. She helped hold the Wildcats offense to a 0-0 draw.

Gowdy offers a speedy option on the forward line for De Anza Force. She will look to utilize that acumen to continue her teams’ streak of goals scored, having seen her side net at least once in every match while in Seattle. If she slips in behind, don’t be surprised if she adds to streak herself.

A flier on the wing, Gowdy is an outside back who looks like a perfect fit as a wingback in the future. She offers an attacking mindset to the position as she looks to get forward and trusts her fellow defenders to cover for her. Her high work rate and pace set her apart as she looks to have an unlimited battery on the field.
