She had a solid match and helped keep the Lancers’ attack in sync. Her ability to scan the field and find open pockets allowed her teammates to find diagonal running lanes as well as to make overlapping runs in the attacking third. I’ve previously covered her matches last season as well as in ECNL games, and she seems to be smoother with the ball at her feet, and she can make turns on a dime. Lynn was also a big part of the Lancers’ run at a treble; she will be counted on to do the same this time around.

Byun was exceptional in midfield today for Bay Area Surf . She was making tackles, winning headers, battling for every ball, connecting passes, driving with the ball on the dribble, and making play after play. Unfortunately a shootout sent her Surf side home but a great season for Byun and her squad.

I’ve covered her high school team (Saint Francis), who won both the CCS and NorCal Division 1 championships. She’s always delivered on big games. She scored a goal in the opening match and played consistently in the next two. Surf will need her to continue to play solid on defense and make some quality runs to the 18 as she seems to be a natural finisher in big matches.

Scored Surf’s lone goal as she was served a perfect pass in the penalty area. Byun struck it with a one-touch shot to beat the MVLA GK. I’ve evaluated her during the high school season as well as in club competition and she’s always delivered. She can play on both ends of the field. When her team needs her on offense, she seems to find open pockets and make good quality runs at goal. She can also track back and support with clean tackles near the 18. Her strength is in making precise passes in the midfield and starting counter attacks.

, who I’ve also covered 3 times prior to this match in high school and in club competition. She scored on a nice one-touch finish as the ball was being knocked around the penalty area. Byun struck it just inside the 18 with a placed shot to make it 6-3 Surf. At Saint Francis, she was a starter for most of the matches, and I covered her team’s 1-0 win over Archbishop Mitty in the Division 1 CCS Final. Lynn got the lone goal to help her team secure their second title of the season, as they previously won the WCAL league championship. She plays club soccer for
Bay Area Surf
ECNL G10.

Byun played the CB and CM position. On defense she was able to step into lanes and win 50/50 challenges. She can transition quickly into attacking while making decisive and precise passes. On offense, she distributed the ball efficiently and moved with a smooth and quick pace. She played both positions well, but it was on offense where I saw her make the most of her abilities. She was also credited with the assist on their last goal. Lynn plays club soccer for Bay Area Surf ECNL.
