Hickam, who made his pro debut with North Texas SC a couple of months ago, was another key piece in Dallas’ defensive system. He was excellent at shielding the team’s backline and denied many of the Dynamo’s attempts with his ability to read plays and intercept passes. Hickam was always very firm with his tackles and won most of the duels he was involved with, consistently disrupting plays. He was solid with his ball distribution and also knew the best moments to push forward and support the offense, be it with runs on the ball or off of it.

is a player that stood out from FC Dallas MLS Next games this season. He is another example of the club’s promotion and development within the teams at the club. He is a center midfielder, probably either a No. 6 or a No. 8 at the next level. He is smooth on the ball with a clean first touch. He moves well in the center of the field to be an option for his teammates in possession. He hit some diagonal passes with impressive accuracy from the run of play. He can pick out wingers if outside backs are caught slipping. Hickam had moments during MLS Next games this season when it seemed like he could take over the game – but he did not seize the chances as often as one would hope. He is a young player who is still figuring it out, but an extra bit of confidence on the field and he could be the top center midfielder in this class in Texas.
