The 2008 age group was in action in the morning with their final games from group play at the event. The group winners were the only teams guaranteed a spot in the next round (a few wildcards also advance).

With so much on the line, the play was a bit disjointed. Nerves and enthusiasm didn't lend for the best soccer. That said, teh players still showed up in big moments. Below are the players who impressed from the games Prep Soccer saw on Tuesday.

[player_tooltip player_id='77911' first='Cora' last='Fry'], Slammers FC Koge 08 - Fry was effective in the attack in the first half against Sporting Blue Valley. She did well in flicking on the ball and creating chances against the aggressive, physical defense from Sporting.

[player_tooltip player_id='19499' first='Ireland' last='Churchill'], Slammers FC Koge 08 - Churchill impressed with her quality on the ball and her determination. The forward was active and showed well against an aggressive defense. She also hit a great set ball.

Catherine Jernigan, Sporting Blue Valley 08 - Jernigan was outstanding at center back against the dynamic, speedy Slammers Koge attack.

Lauryn Welsh, Sporting Blue Valley 08 - Welsh had a strong opening half in goal for Sporting. The goalkeeper made the saves, but also did well off her line and kept control of the box.

Lillian Osifodunrin, Real Colorado National 08 - Real Colorado went through group play without conceding a goal. An impressive three-game shutout streak has the defense playing in top form in Washington. Osifodunrin is a key reason why. The center back was excellent on Tuesday. Her read of the game and effortless athleticism helped her shut down the Alabama attack.

Alexa Douglass, Real Colorado National 08 - Douglass provided a great assist on a goal in the first half for Real Colorado.

Lindsey George, Real Colorado National 08 - George scored the goal off the assist from Douglass. The midfielder was a tidy player for Real Colorado. She was efficient with her touches and shined with her smart play.

Emerson Sprinkle, Real Colorado National 08 - Sprinkle was a thorn in the side of the Alabama FC defense. She was a constant threat to score. I thought the timing of her runs off the ball was excellent and the spots she got to showed a high level understanding of the forward position.

Lorelai Wei, Alabama FC 08 - Wei was a standout in the midfielder for Alabama FC. In a game when the midfield was called on often, she answered the call with some physical play and smart tackles. Anna Mayor was another standout in the midfield for Alabama FC.

[player_tooltip player_id='20055' first='Peyton' last='Marinos'], So Cal Blues 08 - Marinos scored a fantastic goal late in the 2-2 draw against Solar SC. She turned her defender and then finished over the shoulder of the goalkeeper from a nearly impossible angle.

Mackenzie Gwin, So Cal Blues 08 - The pace and determination of Gwin made Solar uncomfortable in the second half. Her gritty effort was rewarded with a goal. It was a tremendous strike with her right foot.

[player_tooltip player_id='19625' first='Kai' last='Beary'], So Cal Blues 08 - Beary, one of the top goalkeepers in the 2008 age group, showed her quality in front of dozens of scouts on Tuesday. There are very few goalkeepers with the shot-stopping and athleticism at the level of Beary.

[player_tooltip player_id='27199' first='Rhiannon' last='Mahon'], Solar SC 08 - Mahon is an outstanding defender and showed all the top qualities of her game on Tuesday from her right back role. She has a good first touch and hte engine to get forward. It seemed like Blues were purposeful in staying away from Mahon.

[player_tooltip player_id='82602' first='Abby' last='Nelson'], De Anza Force 08 - Nelson was one of the standouts from the De Anza Force battle against Sting Black. She anchored the defense. She was great at the timing of the tackle and using her body to hold off the Sting attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='83757' first='Addison' last='Bartell'], De Anza Force 08 - Bartell was so good late in the clash with Sting Black. She came up with a couple of quality saves. I thought her bravery on the crosses was also noteworthy. She was willing to put her body on the line for the save and helped her team clinch a spot in the next round.
