U.S. Soccer U14 Central Region ID Camp: Players You Need to Know

US Soccer is hosting the third and final regional mini-camp for the U14 youth national team program this week in Austin, Texas. The central region will be in the spotlight with the top talent from Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin on display.

There are 80 players heading to the four-day camp. Twenty players from the event will be invited back to the national ID camp to be held in Chula Vista, California May 30-June 4.

Check out a scouting report on a few of the names to know from this group below.

Allen is a five-foot-10 goalkeeper with unlimited potential. She's got the physical profile to be an international level talent. Tall, athletic, strong, Allen has the eye-opening attributes for a young prospect. She's got the diving technique to handle any shot on frame. She's shown impressive footwork especially when getting side to side and how she approaches the attacking player in close shots or breakaways. She's got a booming kick on drop kicks that easily clears half field - and still seems like she has the leg to get the ball even farther down the field. With eight goalkeepers on the roster at this event, there is going to be plenty of competition at this position. Bledsoe plays up an age group at the club level, for one of the best teams in the country. She has the technical ability to shine even when playing up an age group - and the competitive drive to lead that team in the attack. The aspect of her game that can be overlooked is how often the ball just seems to find her feet. The movement off the ball and the anticipation (combined with her focus) leads to getting into the spots to finish off chances. Bledsoe recently played with her own age group at an ECNL event and shined. It should be a similar result at the regional mini-camp as she is one of the most talented players in this age group in the country.

Hernandez is another player attacking midfielder/forward on this roster. There's reason to believe she would be good on the left wing if given an attacking-minded left back on her side for the overlap and plenty of space in the center to cut in on her right.
