USE THE PROMO CODE almasin30 for a discount on your first subscription

The [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] G09 squad took on [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] for the first time this season. Both teams have traded players in the past few years, so it's safe to say that there is mutual respect and admiration for each other. Although they might have had a recent coaching change on the Surf side, their style of play remained the same, and the 4-0 Surf win is somewhat of a statement win against a really good Force team.

Team warmups:

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1964462979707261067

Featured in this match are top-level players as well as college commits on both sides. On the Force side, [player_tooltip player_id='287838' first='Lola' last='Cervantes'], CB - 2027, showed a strong defensive play and made some really good stops near the 18 or just inside the box. If she were not present for this match, the game would have surely gotten out of hand. She can also push up to start counterattacks and fire long-range shots on goal. Her long-ball passes also put players in scoring position, but either the shots pinged off the posts or sailed just wide. She uses her physical advantage to make players reconsider attacking down the middle.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1967770321454501897

She showed a strong defensive play and made some really good stops near the 18 or just inside the box. She can make precise passes while firing off rocket shots from her left boot. I covered her during her high school matches last season with her Archbishop Mitty team. I will definitely be at their matches this season, as they twice lost to the CCS and NorCal champions, Saint Francis, by the slimmest of margins. Zuri recently moved over from the MVLA side, and she seems to be fitting well into the Force system. Lastly, she is a University of Washington commit.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1967775737873908216

She has the burst of speed to get by defenders. [player_tooltip player_id='111092' first='Emi' last='Lo'], 2027, had a great game. She was active on both ends of the field. A box-to-box player with a strong impact on offense. She was responsible for at least 2 of the 4 goals. One came on an assist from a corner kick in goal #1, and the other was a perfect set-piece goal rising over the wall and dipping right below the crossbar. She is a top-level player about to get more recognition at the high school and ECNL level. Emi is also a Brown University commit.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1967782347757195629

She was active on both ends of the field. Her high-pressure up top and strong presence in the penalty area got her at least one goal on the day. It came off of a corner kick play, and Amelia made a perfect run to get into position to flick the ball past the goalkeeper. She also made some good passes in the attacking third and was unselfish when laying the ball off to players in higher percentage scoring positions.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1967789090449002604

She was active in the attacking third. Her calm presence in the midfield while finding players in open pockets was one of the key factors to Surf's success. She can also make precise passes in the attacking third and make it look as if this team has been playing together for many years. Francesca is a top-level player who will probably make a commitment to a Division I team soon. Her soccer IQ is very high, and she sets the tempo as well as leads by example.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1967794521808441363

She was more like a field general. On the Surf side, it is [player_tooltip player_id='99198' first='Savannah' last='Leifried']. I've covered and evaluated Savannah on at least 5 occasions. She usually plays up on the G08/07 team, but this might not be her only match with the 09's.She can play either the mid or outside winger position and provide strength and technical skills in the channels. Savannah is also a recent USC commit.

Savannah commits to USC
https://www.instagram.com/p/DOWis2PjVY4/

On the Force side is [player_tooltip player_id='276651' first='Audrey' last='Wang'], one of the team captains. Audrey was having her typical solid game, but unfortunately a collision near the 18-yard box will keep her out for some time. I've covered her and the team a few times during last season, and they seem to be just about to make the leap to the elite level. I'm hoping she gets the necessary recovery and comes back stronger. Audrey was also recently invited to the U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center but will not be able to attend due to the injury. Her talent level is definitely worthy of future opportunities. Just hoping for the best for her and her family.

Audrey receives an invitation to the U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center

https://www.instagram.com/p/DOo2IDUEpwo

Game Highlights

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1964411680244584531
