Melvin was everywhere on the field and was a key player in Dallas’ victory with his high-energy, high-quality game. Playing as a defensive midfielder, he got the ball from the center backs to start the team’s buildup, but also appeared in the attacking half, making plays. Melvin was very effective at driving the ball upfield and using quick moves to get into the box on some occasions, including the one in which he scored the team’s first goal after being taken down. The midfielder took the penalty kick very well, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, and was always a threat in set pieces, hitting the crossbar on a free-kick shot during the first half and providing excellent service in corner kicks.
