Thursday, 6/26/25, is Day 1 of the ECNL Girls National Playoffs. San Diego weather at this time will be perfect, as mid-70s are on the forecast. The G08 teams are packed with talent, and here are some of those great teams and their elite players. The teams covered in this edition are: So Cal Blues, [program_tooltip program_id='283443' first='Rebels' last='SC'], and [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf']. Some of the players have made their commitments to join Division 1 programs and a few are probably waiting until after the tournament to make their final choice.

I look forward to covering as many teams as possible in the three days I will be in attendance. Hundreds of college coaches and scouts will be on hand to evaluate and possibly offer players opportunities to play at their school. Here are just some of the teams I will be covering in San Diego. Wishing all the teams the best of luck in this prestigious tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='172607' first='Elyssa' last='Hernandez'] - 2026 - D - the U17 Salvadoran National Team member and Seattle University D1 commit, played a solid game at the RCB position. Hernandez has a smooth change of direction move that can twist up hard-pressing opponents. She also makes clean and precise passes to nearly any spot on the pitch. One of her signature plays is sending a long ball right to the feet of her teammates or sending it perfectly behind the defense when they are running in full stride. Her movements and closing techniques are top-notch. She just came back from her team's competition while going 1-1-1 at the World Cup Qualifying in Trinidad & Tobago. Hernandez is also one of our Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp: NorCal 2024 standouts.

She got the second goal as a teammate made a sweet change of direction play and slipped her a pass just outside the 18, and she went 1v1 with the goalkeeper before sending it to the back post. She can make quick runs on goal and her speed allows her to to make attacks from the channels, while angling in to get a higher percentage shot on goal. Her ability to slip in between defenders and find open pockets are some of her strengths.
