ECNL Playoffs: North America Cup 2010 Best XI

Sting Black 2010 claimed the 2025 ECNL North America Cup 2010 Championship earlier this month in San Diego. They defeated in-state rival [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] in the championship game, 2-1. The Sting side went through the high-pressure knock-out style postseason event without conceding more than one goal in any of the four games in Southern California.   Check out the top performances from the event below.    Winters made some outstanding saves in the semifinal against Sting Black. She was impressive with a couple of diving efforts. She also showed excellent ball tracking on a few crosses to snag the ball out of the air at the high point.   Brooklynn Parson and Winters combined in goal to record two shutouts from the three games in San Diego.     Robertson impressed as one of the best outside backs from the event. She was superb in her defending in 1v1 situations on the wing. She won the duel when challenged on the dribble. She intercepted passes with her positioning. She was also good at blocking crosses.   Robertson can serve a great pass too. She hits it with accuracy and can hit a wide-range of passes. There's a lot of top qualities to Robertson's game.   [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id='280255' first='Farah' last='Burkholder'] was a star in the semifinal win over De Anza. She made a great save early on a breakaway.     Bieser was outstanding against [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] in the semifinal of the North America Cup. The center back is a well rounded player. She is listed as a midfielder/defender on her player profile and those skills in the midfield translate to center back. She's a great passer and plays with her head up. She anticipates and steps in front of forwards on the entry pass. She is focused and determined from the opening whistle. Bieser looks to be a new name to watch from Northern California in the 2028 class.     Goodin was excellent for Sting Black in the run to the championship. The center back was strong defensively with her positioning and her organization. She impressed with play in possession. She's a center back who will put her foot on the ball and pause the game to find the best option. She's an excellent passer and reads the game like an experienced player.   Brooklyn Perez was also outstanding for the Sting Black side. The outside back was a two-way impact player.   [player_tooltip player_id='214718' first='Emory' last='Dawkins'] was also a top player for Sting Black. She was excellent defensively and created chances with her set piece delivery.     Internationals were bounced in the second round of the North America Cup after a penalty kick shootout. Boardman still impressed. She played as the right center back, but she was different than other center backs. She hit a 40-yard shot on frame in the game against South Carolina in the consolation round. It was an intentional effort too.   Boardman is happy to take players on off the dribble. She thrives in the challenge. She's an elite prospect for her position and showed all the qualities that make her great in San Diego.   Addyson Paulozzi and Quinn Luecke were also stars for Internationals.     Yu was a bright spot of the Washington Premier defense. She's a center back who fits in almost as a sweeper. She likes to have the game in front of her. She can organize and support her side with her positioning and reading of the game.   [player_tooltip player_id='282079' first='Sydney' last='Harris'] was also outstanding in the Washington Premier defense. The outside back has a bright future.     Baker has a wonderful first touch. She was key on the equalizer for Sting Black. She brought down a clearance with her perfect touch and then played it out wide to start the move. Baker was a high-engine midfielder who covers a ton of ground. She backs that up with tremendous skill and good vision. She's a complete player in the midfield role.   [player_tooltip player_id='211779' first='Maggie' last='Deskin'] and Maiya Kay were also excellent in the midfield for Sting Black.     Hoisington is a defensive midfielder on the Washington Premier 2010 ECNL squad. She stood out from the action at the North America Cup. She is a willing defender and active tackler. She is a force in the center of the field for her side. An aspect of Hoisington's game that set her apart from her peers was her recognition on when to help support the outside backs on her team as a second defender to shut down the opposing winger. She was great at getting to the right spots to put in a tackle and close off options.   Audrey Wilbur was also a standout in the midfield for Washington Premier. She is a two-way player who had a great game against Sting Black's excellent midfield trio. Wilbur impressed with her ability to win tackles and quickly start the attack. She can breeze past the opposition on the dribble as she looks capable of beating players off either foot. She had an excellent cross with her left foot early on in the game against Sting Black.     Wang is another standout from the De Anza side. She is a great two-way player. She had moments in the game against [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] when she looked like the best player on the field by far. She has excellent vision and a real feel for the weight of the pass in attempts to play in behind the defense. She sees passes that not many players in the 2010 age group see or even attempt.   She's a standout defensively as well. She jumps into passing lanes and is active in the tackle. She is an excellent box-to-box midfielder.     Preece is a new addition to the Sting Black side and she is a wonderful talent to add into the fold in the attack. She set-up the equalizer for her side in the championship game. It was a great turn and finish from Preece. Cynthia Rios finished the rebound for the goal. Preece impressed in the press too. She has quick feet and is determined to win possession of the ball.     I believe this was Cretti's last event with Sting Black, as her player profile currently lists her as part of the [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] ECNL squad for last season. The winger is going to continue to turn heads after the performance in San Diego. She's a skillful player who can beat her mark off the dribble. She's got the pace and finishing instincts as an elite attacking talent.     Cleveland is a new name to the Texas rankings. She is a target forward for the Challenge side. Good pace and size for the position, Cleveland has the prototypical traits as a No. 9. She scored the lone goal for Challenge in the final. She was smart about how she pressured the opposition and took away an option for an outlet. Thanks to a stumble, she gained possession of the ball and had a calm finish into the empty net.
