In the third iteration of this awesome and talented group of players from our Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp: NorCal 2024, we will be going over the players I've covered at least once during my first season as a Prep Soccer scout. Some of the players featured in their high school matches and playoffs, while others mainly focused on their club teams and training camps for their national teams. As mentioned, players on the list played for or are still competing in the U-17 Youth World Cup Qualifiers for Team USA, El Salvador, and Panama. Some of these players are national team call-ups, and it's just a matter of time before they get their shot at performing at the highest level of competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='202683' first='Jayla' last='Swindle'] is competing in the U.S. 2010 ODP National Team in Costa Rica. They picked up a 5-1 win against the U17 Carmelita FF side. In game two, they also won 4-0 against Saprissa. I also covered Jayla at the COPA X Racing Louisville Talent ID Event just a couple of weeks ago. She was one of the top performers in the midfield position. Also, just the day before this event, she stood out in the G10 match as her [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] team competed against a tough Mustang SC club. She made crisp passes, had a calm presence in the middle, and got players into scoring range. Swindle was active on both sides of the pitch, but her strength was in slicing through the middle and delivering smooth passes to any spot on the field. Swindle also had an awesome first-year in high school as she was the Sierra Delta League Offensive MVP. She scored 46 goals and had 14 assists for Vacaville Christian.

[player_tooltip player_id='172607' first='Elyssa' last='Hernandez'] just came back home after a 3.5-week training camp and CONCACAF tournament. While participating with El Salvador's U17 National team, they recorded a win against Trinidad and Tobago, tied Honduras, and lost to Team USA. Prior to Elyssa leaving for this trip, I was able to cover one of her matches when Bay Area G08 took on a stacked [program_tooltip program_id='283312' first='Davis' last='Legacy'] team. Surf won that match 3-0. Hernandez is a Seattle University D1 commit who played a solid game at the RCB position. Hernandez has a smooth change of direction that can twist up hard-pressing opponents. She made clean and precise passes to nearly any spot on the pitch. One of her signature plays is sending a long ball right to the feet of her teammates or sending it perfectly behind the defense when they are running in full stride. Her movements and closing techniques are top-notch. Now that Elyssa is back, I bet her teammates are ready for her to make her return to the club side as they have an upcoming match against [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] G08 on April 12, 2025. I will definitely be there for that match and a few others as well.

Isabella “Izzy” Rendino is competing in the CONCACAF U17 WYNT tournament. While participating with Panama's U17 National team, they posted a win over Nicaragua and lost to Canada. I covered Rendino during the high school season, as the Cardinal Newman team played in a North Coast Section (NCS) quarterfinals match against Dublin. The Cardinals won that match 2-0 and eventually won the Division 2 NCS title. In that match, Rendino didn't play her usual left back position. She primarily played as a midfielder and had some perfect passing combinations, which also resulted in putting scores on the board. She found players in open spaces and made quick, decisive passes. Her calm presence and high soccer IQ helped to keep attacking fluidity and make it difficult and less predictable to defend against. I can't wait for her to return to her club side, [program_tooltip program_id='283467' first='Santa' last='Rosa United'] ECNL G09, and cover a match with her team.

[player_tooltip player_id='99198' first='Savannah' last='Leifried'] is a star in the making. I covered her match during week one of the ECNL Spring 2025 season. As a G08, she played up with the G07's, and she did not disappoint. She played comfortably in the midfield position and pushed up in attack while firing off a few shots on goal. Just by observing her play, it would be difficult to believe she's an 08 player. Her passing skills are at the top level as she continuously made quick and precise passes to diagonal and overlapping runners. I really liked her change of speed as she was able to close down on the ball and make hard shots on goal. Savannah is ranked by Prep Soccer as the #10 player in CA and #6 in position for the 2027 class. She is a rising star at the national level as she was on the U-17 camp roster in 2025. We should definitely see more of her competing at that level. Savannah and her team also recently competed in the ECNL Phoenix Showcase 2025 and finished with a 2-0-1 record.

[player_tooltip player_id='19134' first='Aubrey' last='McLin'] was one of our standout goalkeepers in camp. I covered her G08 match as her [program_tooltip program_id='283312' first='Davis' last='Legacy'] squad took on the [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] team in Week #1. Although she didn't get a clean sheet in that match, she had some perfect saves. I've also covered her during the COPA Pro Pathway event, where she also shined. She kept a clean sheet in that match. She and her team also competed in the Phoenix Showcase and went 3-0 in the competition. During her match against Surf, McLin was the goalkeeper who made a lot of saves as wave after wave of surf runs kept spilling in from the channels. She showed her range and technique by taking flight on one really close top left corner shot. Aubrey wasn't going to let that one get by as she covered one of the most difficult spots to score from. She definitely kept at least 4 goals off the board.

[player_tooltip player_id='203241' first='Holland' last='Sperber'] played on the same team as McLin in Week #1. Sperber played up top and provided high pressure and made a few quick and clean passes to runners slipping through the lanes. Her quick challenges in the attacking third caused a few surf passes to go wide or cause win-backs. Sperber had a really good season as a sophomore with the Saint Francis Troubadours as she scored 18 goals and had 6 assists. She also attended the Phoenix Showcase with her squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='206664' first='Lynn' last='Byun'] had a exciting high school season. Byun also had a solid game in the G08 as Mustang took on [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf']. She is the #93-ranked player in CA and #37 in position in prep soccer. She made her presence felt in the middle, faced strong challenges, and led the surf attack. Lynn had a great high school season as her team won a treble (WCAL League Champs, CCS D1 Champs, and NorCal D1 Champions). I was fortunate to attend the CCS finals match in which she scored the goal to give Saint Francis their second crown. Byun will definitely rise in the rankings, as she played during the first week of Spring ECNL and matched the level of play as players one to two years older.

[player_tooltip player_id='111090' first='Teagan' last='Kaefer'] had a sensational sophomore season at Los Gatos HS. I covered her match as they played against Santa Clara HS. Her impressive play on defense kept the opposing team from slipping through the middle of the field. She closed down diagonal runs and made quick decisions to disrupt some of the speedy players from getting behind the defensive line. Her ability to start quick counter-attacks helped the Wildcats get into scoring range. She has the technical skills as a midfielder and contributes when her team is pressing. It is hard to believe that she is only a sophomore as her skill-level is usually seen in higher age groups. Teagan also plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='278033' first='MVLA' last='ECNL'] G09 team, which competed in Phoenix.

[player_tooltip player_id='206659' first='Avery' last='Edson'], a high school teammate of Kaefer, also did well as a sophomore. She played mostly on the defensive side, but moved up during the attack. She's able to win back possession and showed some speed running the channels when chasing down wingers. Avery won most of her 50/50 challenges and showed her technical skills in distributing precise passes. Her ability to find open players was also key to transitioning play. Avery contributed in all three areas on the pitch, due to her high fitness level. She also plays on the [program_tooltip program_id='278033' first='MVLA' last='ECNL'] G09 team and played recently in Phoenix. Can't wait to see her in our Prep Soccer rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='111109' first='Nina' last='Khoury'], I covered her high school match against Dublin in the NCS quarterfinal. The Cardinals won that match 2-0 and eventually won the Division 2 NCS title. She is a teammate of Rendino. In that match, she played solidly on defense. She made hard challenges outside the box and stepped into lanes to stop the speedy forwards, hoping to get into 1v1 challenges with the goalkeeper. She also made some long passes over the top to diagonal runners. Nina also played in Phoenix with her [program_tooltip program_id='283467' first='Santa' last='Rosa United'] ECNL G09 team. She is currently ranked by Prep Soccer as #38 in CA and #14 as a defender in position.

All players will get a June 15th call soon, unless they have already made a commitment or if they are completing their first-year of high school. This is a special group of players who will definitely have opportunities to compete at the highest levels. Only time will tell, but I'm sure at least two or more will be in the U.S. Women's team when the World Cup comes to the United States in 2031 or play at professional level.
