One of the most anticipated moments of the MLS Next season has arrived, as starting this weekend, academies from all over the U.S. and Canada and international opponents will compete in the highly prestigious Generation Adidas Cup.

The tournament will have 40 teams competing in each of the U15 and U16 divisions at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, from March 27 to April 4 in what should be one of the highlights of the season. Teams were split into ten groups of four, and the best 16 (the ten pool winners and the six best second-placed teams) will advance to the playoffs.

The three MLS teams from the state of Texas will be represented in the tournament, and we'll preview each of them ahead of the opening day.

Watson joined [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] this season and needed no time to earn a spot in the team's strong center back rotation. He's very tall and physical, but moves very well, having an interesting athletic profile to stand out in central defense. Watson is very good at defending inside the box, but his superior mobility also allows him to make strong defensive plays high up on the field. The center back is a reliable passer, not taking too many risks with his distribution, but accurately delivering the ball to his teammates.

A central midfielder, Orta has a key role in [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas']' game. Because of his positioning, he gets on the ball a lot and often dictates the pace of the team's offense with his distribution. A lefty, Orta takes good care of the ball and has tremendous quality in the starting stage of their buildup, remaining patient and picking the right options. He also delivers defensively, playing with good energy and covering ground, and can initiate quick transition plays with accurate long balls.

Considered the biggest gem in [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas']' Academy right now, Flowers has been playing with the U19s this season and recently made his professional debut with North Texas SC in the MLS Next Pro League, but will come down to strengthen this team in Florida. A game-changing forward, he will significantly boost their offense with his high intensity and tremendous quality on the ball. Flowers is quick, skilled and very instinctual with his decision-making, posing a big threat to any defensive system. He plays mostly as a winger and thrives in space, but his ability to dribble in crowded areas and superior finishing make of him a real threat when deployed more centrally, too.
