Slater was part of the Solar SC U19 team that defeated Challenge SC U19 6-0 and Albion Hurricanes FC U19 3-0 in the event. She was very active in the final third, drifting to both sides to combine with her teammates and make plays. Slater facilitated plays by working with her back to the goal and playing quick first-time passes, but also did well when she had more time on the ball, showing great vision to hit accurate diagonals that got opposing backlines out of balance. The striker also did a good job when getting to the end of crosses inside the box and moving off the ball to get open just outside the box.

Slater was a girl on a mission today against San Diego Surf in the Quarter Finals of the 2009 age group. She scored both goals in the first half to put her team up 2-0 against a loaded San Diego Surf and Solar did not look back. Slater took both goals extremely well the first being a follow up rebound where she was the fastest to react and the other a very well taken goal where she rounded the goalkeeper with excellent composure for a tap in.

Slater came off the bench alongside Aguilar and decided the match for Solar with two goals. In the first one, she made a strong run from the left to the middle and finished with power and precision. In the second, she showed a great presence inside the penalty box, following a play that developed on the right and beating her defender to the ball to send it to the back of the net. Slater displayed a very complete game, at times operating more centrally and using her body to work with her back to the goal and on other occasions getting the ball out wide and going at defenders with her dribbling ability and pace.
