Originally a center back, Hodgson stated the match as a defensive midfielder and did a good job there. She used her size to occupy the space well and helped her team keep Solar away from the penalty box for most of the time. Hodgson moved back to central defense during the second half and continued to deliver there, defending Solar’s attempts with efficiency. She also tried to push the team forward in the final minutes of the match with long passes.

Hodgson was really solid in the center of Albion’s backline. She used her size well to anticipate plays, handle long passes and win aerial battles but was also very strong in 1v1 duels. She had an interesting battle with Gonzalez and won some and lost some, keeping Sting’s dangerous forward away from the penalty box for most of the match. Hodgson was also very technical and confident in possession, connecting some really good passes from the back and occasionally pushing the ball upfield herself with runs through the middle.

The reason to believe Hodgson is the best center back in the state is that she is Uber-competitive and will do anything to help her team win. She is a defender who will make the goal-line save or the last second block. The knock on her is that she can over-pursue the mark or the ball and get sucked out of position.
