Prep Soccer: ECNL Playoffs 2010 Best XI

Prep Soccer was on hand for the action. Simpson only let in one goal from the four games. The Bethesda goalkeeper enjoyed a stellar defense in front of her, but she had her highlight reel moments too. I thought she wasn't asset in possession for her team and was confident on the ball. She played right center back at the ECNL Playoffs when I saw her. She was exceptional in that role. The qualities of a center midfielder in possession in that role allowed her team to dominate possession. It helps that Symmonds is one of the smartest players in the ECNL and could adapt and thrive in any role. Florida Premier finished the event with only one goal conceded from the four games. She is an outstanding defender. She can man-mark or play off the ball as a support in the center. She is the captain of the team and her teammates clearly look at her for leadership. She was nearly perfect against Eastside in the Round of 16 victory. Wong was one of those defenders who seemed like she could do it all. A lockdown defender who also looked comfortable on the ball and broke pressure on the dribble, she offers a lot of traits that scouts look for in modern defenders. They were dominant during the event and got key contributions all over the field. I thought Neves deserved a special shoutout after the Round of 16 victory over Indy Eleven Pro Academy. She is a very talented defensive midfielder with high upside. Comfortable on the ball to build out of pressure, a true 360-degree player, and incredibly smart about her tactical positioning, Neves offers the key traits to be a top No. 6 at the international level in the future. She is a very skillful player. Her footwork was especially impressive in that game as she kept close control of the ball and did well in tight spaces. She is strong on the ball and uses her body well to shield players off it. She plays with her head up and showed good decision-making quality in the final third. They scored 13 goals in four games. I thought Gutierrez's performance against World Class FC was one of the best of the week. She created the opening goal with a dazzling dribbling display as she spun off defenders and broke some ankles before providing the hockey assist on the chance that eventually led to the goal. Gutierrez's creativity, accurate passing, and quick feet were strong points of her game. I thought she was the best player on the field against Michigan Hawks in the group play scoreless draw. She stands out for her stature as one of the tallest players. She is more than just a weapon in aerial duels. She uses her long legs to block off passes and command the center of the field. She is an excellent passer and shines with her ability to successfully play simply. Molly Gaffney was also outstanding for Real Colorado. She provided the perfect assist to Tyana Thomas for the game-winner. Herron showed her quality throughout the game with composure on the ball and quality passes. She had a good grasp on when to play one-touch and when to keep the ball at her feet to get her teammates involved. Thomas was also a top performer from the event. She added the game-winner in the battle against Southern California rival Slammers in the Round of 16 clash. They are well coached trio with a firm grasp on their tactical responsibitiles and an incredibly high level for their technical quality. Perry, the defensive midfielder, was the key piece. She was outstanding in the opening win against FC Dallas and equally as impressive in the close battle against Mustang SC. She has game-breaking ability with her pace and skill. While playing against the best defenders in the country, she looked like she had a different level than anyone else. Lightning quick with the ball at her feet, the Hawks star had defenders scrambling to keep up with her throughout the event. Harper Arvila was one of the best center backs at the event. Clarc Lang is another one to know from this team.
